Powder Room Power

The powder room is the ideal place to splurge – not only in terms of luxury finishes like natural stone countertops or a porcelain vessel sink, but you can also experiment with bold design elements that would seem over the top in a larger space.

Here’s how your tiny bathroom can make a big impression:

  1. You’re So Vain

Your vanity area is one that almost everyone who comes into your home will see at one time. Install a unique, furniture-like vanity and an opulent statement mirror to give the powder room immediate impact.

  1. Upsell Yourself

A luxurious granite or marble countertop may be out of the question in the kitchen, where a large slab can be pricey, but the small square footage in the powder room gives you the opportunity to get what you really want. While you’re at it, update your hardware and fixtures to match.

  1. Don’t Forget Storage

Clutter never makes a good impression. Adding built-in shelving to your walls and under your sink will open the space so it won’t feel cramped.

  1. Experiment with Color

Skip neutrals in this room, and let your imagination run wild. Splash on a boldly colored or metallic glass tile backsplash and paint the walls in your favorite color! Because you won’t be staring at your powder room walls for hours at a time, you have the luxury to experiment.

  1. Finishing Touches

Crown and base moulding adds an architectural element that will really tie the space together.

Think about your guests, too. Add an empty shelf or hook to the back of the door where a purse or jacket can be hung.
